People among the Splendid Ruins of Athens, from the 19th to the 20th Century
18 January 2016-8 June 2016

The National Archaeological Museum of Athens, as part of its celebration of 150 years since its founding and in collaboration with the Museum Herakleidon, will present in its welcoming Café, from Monday, January 18 to May 8, 2016, an impressive collection of photographs that present aspects of the early urban landscape of Athens and the daily life of its inhabitants.

Beginning with the first photograph ever taken in Greece in 1839, a rich display of photographs unfolds, including three-dimensional presentations viewed through stereoscopes dating back to 1900. This exhibition, which constitutes the third part of Metamorphoses of Athens/People of Athens that was presented with great success at the Museum Herakleidon (October 2014-July 2015), is curated by the historian of photography Haris Yakoumis.
